Managers of Magister talk about fighting with big market which is in the hand of giants. Magister is a system for holding online and private classes, along with group courses that are held by us.
Also, according to the fact that we have access to large number of students and teachers, we offer other services.
Amir Mohammad Beiki and Satar Zavari are two young men who started Magister startup. Amir Mohammad is born in 1373 and student of medicine.
He says: “we saw that a part of education and especially teaching for entrance exam by top students of universities are done privately and it has a turbulent market.
On the other hand, we had the experience of tutoring. Thus this idea came to our mind that provide an infrastructure which manage this market and make it more clear.
In Bahman 1396, we started working on the idea and we started madisterapp.ir officially from Esfand and the app for student and teacher came to market since Khordad 1397.”

Which services do you offer in Magister?
Magister is a system for holding online and private classes, along with group courses that are held by us. Also, according to the fact that we have access to large number of students and teachers, we offer other services.
For example, teachers can provide samples of their teaching to us so that after a while we offer a bank of educational information to students for free. Also teachers can provide educational sources and leaflets to students.
In other words, Magister acts as a connecting infrastructure between teacher and student. We cover all levels of education from primary to entrance exam.
Also, we have professional advice for all levels and we have covered Olympiad and foreign languages.
-
How can teachers and students use this service?
In order to keep transparency and order in the market, we interview and take an exam from teachers and try to make them standard with a series of standard solutions.
For example, when the student searches the teacher of 12th grade, teachers are shown based on levels and points and he can take a course with each one he likes.
Students can become aware of the level of teacher and the fee he should pay for the class before taking one. This is one of the most important difference between us and similar systems.
Also at the end students are asked about the class held and this survey affects the level of teacher and the fee for his class.
-
Does your system act as a platform?
From the beginning, we wanted to make a platform so that students and teachers can connect with each other, thus we created an app for teachers and another app for students.
Right now there are two ways of class request in general; the first is that if the student want to take a course with a specific teacher, he requests to that teacher and the teacher can accept or reject that request.
The second way is useful when the student doesn’t care with which teacher he takes a course.
In this way which is called selection through Magister, according to the terms required by the student, a teacher would be chosen among all teachers and recommended to the student.
-
How many teachers have worked with you so far and how many students have used your service?
Right now among about 900 teachers who had applied, 270 verified teachers are present in the system and there are 908 class request are registered so far.
-
What percent of all classes held so far, have been online and what percent have been in person?
I can say that 80 percent of classes have been in person and have been held privately at home so far.
-
How did you evaluate the market, what is the inclination between teachers and students so that they want to use this service?
The fact is that there is some resistance towards holding online classes, but in general education market is one of the biggest markets and it isn’t usually a transparent market.
When the market becomes transparent, people would adopt it and we have received good feedback from our audience during this time.
-
Which method of earnings have you considered in Magister app?
In short term our goal is to receive a commission for each class and make money in this way but in the long term, our goal is that we earn money through courses and group classes we want to hold so that we become the mediate between students and institutions.
-
How much was your initial capital when you start?
We proceeded only with personal capital and we have paid about 150 million Tomans so far.
-
Which problems have you faced with so far?
Fortunately we haven’t encounter any barriers so far but we entered a closed market; because although education market has a big capacity.
But it is very limited and in the hand of big players and working in this market may not be consistent with startup situations, because sometimes we have to change our methods in order to compete with others.
