skillema.ir is the first Persian and professional social network which intends to share, prompte and transfer skills, expertise and professional experiences in the way that users can earn money from it.
Here we have talked with Mohammad Rouhani Nejad, one of Skillema founders.
-
Why did you operate Skillema on a social network platform not a website?
In order for the users to be able to reach marketing and can introduce themselves to other users. There is a rule in social networks: the more you have friends, the more you are seen.
-
Which needs of users are met in this platform?
If they want to introduce their skills to audience or if they need a space with extent communications for showing their skills, if they think it’s time for them to have a big online store for their products without any mediator.
-
What is the competitive advantage of skillema over other social networks like LinkedIn?
I believe that LinkedIn doesn’t cover all the needs we have in our business environment. Most important part of LinkedIn is advertisement and branding in social network.
Our goal in skillema is that we do nothing except that we become sure we will do it perfectly. We didn’t engage in competitive environment from the beginning. We compete with ourselves.
-
How do you earn money?
Social networks have their own model of financial issues and income. Data processing and big data, analyzing and selling information is what we do.
Also we sell sets of plugins and analytic tools. Moreover we make money from advertisement.
-
How many people did you employ?
Our goal is to reduce unemployment rate up to 2%. We want to employ 400,000 people. Our goal is specific, measurable, action-oriented, timely and realistic.
-
What is your outlook about this business?
We want to reach a point in which users introduce their professional identities like email and phone number with our skillema code and share them with others or print them on their business card.
-
What is the contribution of idea contrary to implementation in the scale of 0 to 100?
I think idea contribution is only 5%. Even when your idea is not complete you should start implementing and complete it gradually.
In the market, ideas are being easily copied so there is no need to emphasize too much on it.
-
What were your problems and obstacles?
From the beginning we faced with financial problems. Now we have problem in team making. Because people usually want to succeed in one night and don’t have patience.
-
How did you make sure that your idea is efficient?
In fact before we start our business, we didn’t examine feasibility and market. We didn’t ask other if they would rather use our services or not. We listened to our instinct. This is not recommended but this is what we did.
-
What is your recommendation for startups?
Think internationally and globally, see the world’s market. Consider all the factors involved in a cycle.
